Make Up Must Haves // The Foundations

Now, a little while ago you may remember I began a series called ‘Make Up Must Haves‘ and talked all the talk about Primers. I’m not one to bail on my promises, so today I’m bringing you the second installment of the series and we’re chatting foundations. Foundations are my weakness in terms of beauty, and I’m constantly on the look out for new bottles of the good stuff to add to my collection. BareMinerals, Dior, NARS, Chanel, Benefit and Vichy are just a few that sit pretty on my shelf and I have one to suit your every need. Glow? Got your back. Feeling a full coverage? I could rattle off a list that would be perfect. It was the hardest task whittling it down to my top three high-end and one budget base, but these are the ones that I know I’ll have in my make up bag forever (or at least until they are discontinued. At which point I will most certainly have a mini breakdown).

Spreading The Sparkle // Two Years On

In case you don’t follow me on any social media, you may have missed that yesterday was my blog’s second birthday! Two years ago, on September 20th, I opened my laptop and began spreading sparkle on the internet. Back then, I wrote to an audience that varied between nil and twelve (I was stuck there for so long) and took photographs of atrocious quality on my iPhone 4. My blog is still the same, beauty obsessed, positive place it always has been but I like to think that it’s developed leaps and bounds. I thought it would be nice to do a little round up of stuff I’m pleased as punch with from the last year. You can read about my first year in blogging here too if you fancy a peek.

Autumn Reads

Autumn Reads

Autumn is my favourite time of year – give me dark nights, candles burning, wooly jumpers, a pumpkin spiced latte and the stunning colour palette nature takes on any day of the week. Although we’re still having reasonably nice weather here in the UK, I am so ready to wave goodbye to Summer this year and dig out my scarf and wellies. One of the things I love the most, is having a hot bath (LUSH bath bomb is essential here), getting into some fresh PJs, lighting my favourite candle and curling up with a good book and a hot chocolate. There are a couple of books that I will always re-read this time of year, and some that are on my ‘to read’ list, so I thought why not share a few with you all today?

Cover Shoot Cosmetics - Budget Beauty

Beauty On A Budget

Today we’re talking make up, my favourite kind of beauty babble. Regular readers of my blog will know that I’m usually a sucker for luxury brands – give me Charlotte Tilbury, Chanel or NARS and I’m a happy girl. However, there are times when I don’t have the best part of £40 to shell out on an eyeshadow quad, and that’s when I look to the high street. There are some great brands out there (for example, the Healthy Mix Serum by Bourjois is one of my all time favourite bases, despite it being a good £20 cheaper than the usual suspects in my make up routine), and there are new names popping up all the time. So when Cover Shoot Cosmetics sent me out a bumper parcel full of new releases* I was excited to try them out and see if the quality was worthy of my make up bag.

Weleda Insight

An Insight Into Weleda

Most people I know have heard of Weleda, and have at least one of their products that they swear by. They are the number one sustainable brand, and the go-to for natural cosmetics – the original Green Beauty Brand. For me, my essentials are their Skin Food for a good old pamper and the Calendula Nappy Change Cream that is within reach at all times as a mother. I’ve always had somewhat of a soft spot for the brand, maybe thanks to my mum’s love of the body oils, so when I was invited along to their HQ in Derbyshire to find out all about them, I jumped at the chance.

Back On The Blogging Bandwagon

Hello, it’s me (I can never write that without hearing Adele now). Long time no blog! Life has thrown some serious curve balls my way in the past few months, and whilst I’m not about to air my dirty laundry on here for all to see, let’s just say that I have had some pretty tough times. I have missed spreading sparkle from my little corner of the Internet, but the perfectionist in me wouldn’t let me log on and produce some sub-standard content for you all to read. So instead, I took a step back, unplugged myself from social media all together for a little while and gave my head a serious wobble. The result? I’m still dealing with things but feel in a much better place within myself, and think that throwing myself back into the blogosphere is exactly what I need. Reading this opening back, it sounds like I’ve been on a constant low during my blogging break, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. I like to think of myself as a positive person in general, and that’s what this post is going to be all about. For every low, there’s been multiple highs so here’s the low down on life lately.

Abrakadabrow

When Benefit announced they were releasing an entire line of products dedicated to good brows I think I literally squealed with joy. I love brows, and I hold a very special place for Benefit in my beauty blogger heart. Their brow bars are the only place I will trust to wax and tint mine to perfection, and if you read my recent post, Brows That Wow, you’ll know that Brow Zings and Gimme Brow are my go-to products on a daily basis. So when I was invited along to a launch event held at John Lewis, along with the lovely Sheffield blogger babes, you can imagine how quickly I bit their hand off!

On Wednesday’s We Wear Pink

Seems as if June is finally starting to get it’s act together this week – we actually had some sunshine. Real, warm sunshine – remember that? Hopefully it’s here to stay (for longer than a few days at least) and that means summer make up! I’m normally a nude lip kinda girl and have rocked the YSL Rouge Volupté Shine in shade 8 more days than not since I bought it in February. But when the sun ups it game, so does my lipstick. I love a feminine pink lip for this time of year, and on my recent trip to Paris I picked up a couple of absolute stunners to add to my collection. So without further ado ladies, pucker up!

Make Up Must Haves // The Primers

I am most definitely a make up lover, or obsessive if you will. I own enough for me probably not to have to buy anymore for the next five years (but I keep on adding to my collection regardless). If you asked me what my favourite type of product was, I’d be hard pushed to choose but think I would have to go with anything to do with the perfect base; I even have a Pinterest board dedicated to the subject! Keeping that in mind, you might find it a little strange that I have only recently got into primers. Up until about a year ago the inside of my make up bag had never seen a primer. I like to think I’ve more than made up for that huge over sight though, and now have a great selection that can cater to my every need. I thought it might be fun to start a little series bringing you my top four picks from each make up category, and today we’re talking primers.

Parisian Adventures // 4

Welcome back to my travel journals! Where has the time gone – I find it hard to believe it really has been a month since I boarded a plane to Paris! Writing these posts is giving me the perfect excuse to relive it all, and look through all my photos (again) though! If you missed my previous entries, you can catch up here, here and here with how I spent my 30th birthday. Spoiler: it features Chanel and an afternoon of fashion heaven!
